Guest Use of Library Computers

Guests to the Library may request a temporary guest sign-on. Guest use is subject to availability of computers. Student fees purchase all public computer equipment. Students have first priority for computer use. Guest use is subject to the SUNY New Paltz Computer and Internet Acceptable Use Policy. Note that this policy specifically prohibits "use of networks or computers to harass other computer users, or to publicly display offensive or obscene" material.

The campus requires verification of identity before granting computer access. Acceptable id's include:

  • driver’s license
  • other active SUNY student/staff picture id
  • county Sheriff’s id
  • federal passport card
  • passport

Guest computer users must sign in at the Circulation Desk to request a Guest Use card. By signing the register form, the guest user agrees to abide by all campus policies regarding computer and internet use (see first page in notebook). Guest signon cards are valid for a one hour session. Reminders will appear on the screen warning about the time limit. Return cards when finished.

Printing for guest users is available for $.10 per page. Pick up prints at the Circulation Desk.

Guest Users may not use the lending laptops or the campus wireless network. Those services are for students only.
